Knaack, Beatrice A. “Bea”
Appleton

Age 96, died June 26, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a short illness. Bea was born on March 21, 1913, in Bear Creek, WI, to the late Charles and Carrie (Heinrich) Raisler. Bea proudly served her country during World War II as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. On March 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Norman Knaack in Marion, WI. The couple enjoyed 26 years together before his death in 1973. Bea worked as a cook for the Purdy family for many years. She loved craftwork, gardening, knitting, and reading, and was a member at Zion Lutheran Church, Appleton.

She is survived by her son Donald (Paula) Knaack, Racine; sister Jean Kellogg, Rancho Santa Fe, CA; 2 sisters-in-law: Marian Raisler, Appleton, and Lorraine Raisler, Marion, WI; special niece Nancy Gorchals; special friends, Paula’s sister Sherry Kilian, and Jim and Donna Hameister. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother and sister, 3 brothers: Carlton, Donald, and George Raisler; sister-in-law Geraldine Raisler and brother-in-law W. Keith Kellogg II.

A Funeral Service will take place 11 am Wednesday July 1, at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will take place at Highland Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Rennes Health Care Center, and Renaissance Assisted Living for the kindness, care, and concern shown to Bea. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
