Appleton
Everett (“Ev”) Wayne Rohde passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 4, 2009, at Peabody Manor in Appleton, WI. He was born in Oshkosh, August 27, 1932, the youngest of five children to the late Margaret Matilda Rohde (Baller) and Emil William Rohde. The family moved to Appleton in 1937. Ev attended Zion Lutheran Grade School and later graduated from Appleton High School West in 1950. Ev served in the US Army from March 1952 to March 1954, working in Europe as a military photographer. Ev married the late Betty Wilma Anderson on May 2, 1959, at First English Lutheran Church of Appleton. The couple shared a close and wonderful relationship for just shy of 50 years before she died April 6, 2009. Ev worked for Consolidated Papers Incorporated for 41 years as a Laboratory Technician in Research and Development retiring in 1992. Ev ran his own professional photography business, Rohde Photo, taking over 1500 weddings in the Fox Valley, in addition to taking family portraits, graduation portraits, and a variety of group photos during a 45-year period.
Ev was always active in his community. He was member of the Fox Cities Gardening Club. He was a member and President of the Board for the Community First Credit Union. He was an active member at his church, First English Lutheran, serving as an usher, President of the Council, member of the counting committee, and working in multiple other capacities throughout his long affiliation. Ev and Betty Rohde lived for ten years, prior to his retirement in 1992 from Consolidated Papers, in Wisconsin Rapids. After his retirement, he was a regular volunteer at the newly opened Arboretum (now know as the Gardens of the Fox Valley) at Memorial Park. The couple enjoyed being annual snowbirds at Vista del Lago in Bradenton, Florida, during their retirement years as well.
Ev is survived by his two children, Karen Ann (Stephen) Severance of Denton, Texas, and Timothy Wayne (Susan) Rohde of the Town of Menasha; three grandchildren: Jonathan Michael Severance, Jessica Ashley Severance, and Mason Everett Rohde; his sister Audrey Joan (Roy) Ganzel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister Elaine Victoria Rohde, and his brothers Orin Niel (Shirley) and Harland Keith (Elanore) Rohde.
There will be a visitation at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009. There will be a second visitation period at First English Lutheran Church 326 E. North St., on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 11 a.m., followed by funeral services at noon, with the Rev. Michael Dismer officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Everett’s family has established a memorial fund.
Everett’s family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the staff at The Heritage/Peabody Manor and Theda Clark Medical Center for their compassionate care and attention during his stay at those facilities.
