Norbert, age 84, of Appleton, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at Colony Oaks Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was born January 3, 1925, in Appleton, son of the late Walter and Alma (Rehfeldt) Piette. He married RoseMarie Kading November 10, 1951, sharing 58 years together. Norbert was employed by Ameritech (Wisconsin Bell) for 42 years and retired in 1986.
Norbert was member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, a member and volunteer at EAA and a former Boy Scout Leader. He served in the Army Air Force during WW II as a flight instructor. Following active duty he served in the US Army Reserves until he retired January 3, 1985.
Norbert is survived by his wife RoseMarie of Appleton; two sons and daughters-in-law: Kurt and Laura Piette, Green Bay; Jon and Lisa Piette, Combined Locks; 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Michelle Piette, Raleigh, NC; Colleen and Larry Lambrecht, Oshkosh; a brother and sister-in-law: Wayne and Virginia Piette, Midland, TX; a sister: Shirley Krause, Appleton; 6 grandchildren: Andrew and Melisa Lambrecht; Natalie and Christopher Piette and Kyra and Matthew Piette. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Sara Lambrecht and two brothers: Russell and Carl.
Service will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade St. with Rev. Beth Macha officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Military Honors will be conducted at the Cemetery by Appleton VFW Post #2778. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Friday from 4 PM until 7 PM and at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Theda Clark Medical Center, Appleton Medical Center, Peabody Manor, Colony Oaks Care Center, Heartland Hospice and the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel.
