Dawn age 88, of Appleton, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at Peabody Manor.
She was born January 16, 1921, in Appleton, daughter of the late Henry and Edna (Kimball) Gillette. She married Vincent J. Kraus April 19, 1941 in Appleton, sharing 62 years together before his death September 16, 2003. Dawn was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
Dawn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen and Robert Toonen, Neenah; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Cindy Kraus, Appleton , Thomas and Joan Kraus, Appleton, a brother: Robert Gillette, Appleton; a sister: Beverly Gillette, Chico, CA; a sister-in-law: Ruth Gillette, Mountain, 7 grandchildren: Brian (Karen) Toonen, Bolingbrook, IL; Christine Toonen, Neenah; Jeff( Vicky) Kraus, Appleton, Eric (Kristen) Kraus, Appleton; Jason (Jeannie) Wickesberg, Appleton; Jodi Wickesberg, Appleton, Joel Wickesberg, Appleton; 11 great grandchildren: Zebediah Toonen, Makenna, Isaac and Zoe Kraus; Austin Lazor and Katelynn Kraus; Dylan and Ethan Wickesberg; Anthony and Andy Vogel; Broady Laux; and one great-great grandson: Zane. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Carol Wickesberg, 1966; a sister Lois Chapman, Brother Harold Gillette and a sister-in-law: Elaine Gillette.
Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Theda Care At Home Hospice or Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Theda Care at Home Hospice and Birch Cottage staff for the wonderful care Dawn received while in their care.
