| | | C. Eugene (Gene) Heffelfinger, age 78 of Fairview St. Upper Sandusky died on Aug. 29, 2009 at 11:29p.m. He was born on Oct. 14, 1930 in Upper Sandusky to James C. and Alice (Hall) Heffelfinger. They both preceded him in death.
He married Rosie R. Wells on Jan. 9, 1965 and they later divorced and she survives in Bucyrus.
Mr. Heffelfinger is survived by 3 daughters Jeanmarie Holman, Marion, Julia K. Heffelfinger, Galion, Janel L. Yeater, Columbus, foster son Jake Reel, 4 grandchildren Amber, Nichelle, Gena, Riley, 4 great grandchildren Katlynn, Gavin, Angelica, Courtnee, a brother Russell W. (Jeananne) Heffelinger and sister Carol King, both of Upper Sandusky. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Starlena.
He retired from Swan Rubber Company in Bucyrus after 46 years. After retirement he ran the concession stands at the men and women ball diamonds. He was a veteran of the U.S Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Heffelfinger was a member of the Moose Lodge #1093, AmVets Post #777, and the Wyandot County Senior Citizen Club. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge #2184. Mr. Heffelfinger enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Erie with his buddies. He liked sharing time with friends at the Wyandot County Senior Center. His hobbies included bowling, bingo, cards and other games of chance.
A funeral service will be held Sept. 2, 2009 at 11:00a.m. in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Williamson and Rev. Ted Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Old Mission Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors being conducted by Local Veterans Organizations. Friends may call from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. on Tues. Sept. 1, 2009.
