Carrie Marie Kimmel, age 91, of 86 Mabel Road, Ashland, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 at The Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman.

She was born on Wednesday, August 2, 1916 in Barry Twp, a daughter of the late Henry Edwin Shuey and the late Gertrude (Lucas) Shuey.

She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

She was a seamstress in area garment factories prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Barry Salem United Methodist Church,Weishample.

She was also a member of member of the Women's Missionary Group of her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E Kimmel in 1966.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers Lawrence, Ivan, and Leroy Shuey; and by three sisters Irma Morgan, Alva Kimmel, and Martha Mitchell.

She is survived by two sons, Edward H Kimmel and his wife, Rita of Hegins, and James E Kimmel and his wife, Donna of Hegins; a daughter, Edith M Header and her husband Charles "Chip" of R.D. Ashland; three grandsons, Robert C Header of R.D. Ashland, Elwood H Kimmel of Carlisle, and Luke J Kimmel of Holly Springs, NC; three granddaughters, Gail M Hepler of R.D. Ashland, Pamela S Kimmel of Allentown, and Audrey M Appenzeller of Essex Junction, VT; eleven great grandchildren; and a brother, Milton M Shuey of Grafton, VA.

Services were held at Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample, on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Wallace officiating.

A viewing was held Saturday, February 23 at the church, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Burial was made in Salem Cemetery, Weishample.

Memorial contributions can be made to Barry Salem United Methodist Church, 818 Deep Creek Road, Ashland PA 17921.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
