Harold Eugene Betz, Jr., 65, of Hegins, passed away Tuesday afternoon at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on Sunday, October 10, 1943 in Reinerton, , a son of the late Harold Sr. and Helena Deibert Betz.

He was a retired coal miner for Kocher Coal Co. .

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ,Sacramento.

He was also a former member of Hegins Fire Company, Valley View Fire Company, Valley View Gun Club, American Legion Post 575 Valley View, and VFW Post 8327 Valley View.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a step brother Edward Schwenk.

Harolds hobbies were refinishing furniture, chair caining, collecting antiques and roller skating. He greatest joys were spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M Heim Betz, one son, Harold III and his wife Beth, Valley View; one daughter, Sherry Spotts and her husband Corey, Halifax; two step-daughters, Amy Wolfgang and her husband Michael, Hegins and Emily Ganunis and her husband, Ralph, Hegins. 1 Step-brother, Floyd Schwenk, Lykens, 2 Step-Sisters, Janet Frederick, Williamstown and Joyce Sponsler, Tower City. His grandchildren, Jared and Megan Betz; Caleb Spotts, Tanner and Alexa Wolfgang and Sullivan Ganunis.

Memorial services were held at11:00 am Satruday, November 1st. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento with Rev. Raymond Holland. Visitation was from 10 -11 am at the church. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 16 n. 4th Street, Minersville PA or Tri Valley Charities, Valley View, PA 17983.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
