Edna Violet Artz, age 97, of 6 Artz Road, Spring Glen, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Schuylkill Medical Center- South, Pottsville.

She was born on Wednesday, November 1, 1911 in Fearnot, a daughter of the late Rathmas Miller and the late Edna (Shade) Miller.

She retired as a seamstress having worked in area garment factories.

She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Spring Glen.

She was also a member of the former Daughters of America, Spring Glen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan W Artz in 1989; and by two sons Elwood Artz and Irvin Artz; a brother William Miller; and two sisters Rosa Zerbe and Daisy Lettich.

She is survived by a son, Wayne I Artz and his wife, Ruth of Spring Glen; a daughter, Vera V Coleman of Pine Grove; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.

Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev.William Danis officiating.

A viewing was held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial was made in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
