Marvin Leroy "Yogie" Moyer, age 85, of 127 Kushwa Road, Spring Glen, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, October 6, 1923 in Hegins Twp, a son of the late Samuel Moyer and the late Mabel (Bixler) Moyer. He was a 1941 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He was a coal miner for most of his life and had retired from Quaker State Farms, Klingerstown. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. He was also a member of the Sacramento Fire Company. He was preceded in death by a brother Herman Moyer. He is survived by his wife Geraldine H (Dunkelberger) Moyer, to whom he was married for 63 years. He is also survived by a son, David M Moyer, Sr and his wife, Georgina of Williamstown; a daughter, Wanda R Harner and her husband, Terry of Spring Glen; three grandsons, David M Moyer, Jr of Williamstown, Clinton L Harner, Valley View, and Troy A Harner of Hegins; a granddaughter, Luana L Moyer of Herndon; six great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; a sister Hilda Lubold of Valley View; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Claude Schach officiating.
