John David Kroh, Sr., age 67, of 120 Main Street, Joliett, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Lebanon County.

He was born on Saturday, February 14, 1942 in Hegins, a son of the late Harvey C Kroh and the late Mildred N. (Morgan) Kroh.

He was a retired self employed coal miner.

He was a member of Protestant Faith,.

He was a member of Joliett Fire Company and the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club. He was also a member of the Twin Valley Mountain Dart League and the Northern Berks Dart League. He enjoyed his family and babysitting his grand and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Alexia Lymaster, a sister Marie Poletti, an infant sister, and by four brothers Clervin, Merlin, Mark "Pat", and Andy Kroh.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria C. Kroh, to whom he was married for 48 years.

He is also survived by four sons, John D Kroh, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Hegins, Michael A Kroh and his wife, Jodi of Donaldson, Joel A Kroh and his companion, Stan of Lutz, FL, Jason M Kroh and his companion, Jennifer of Joliett; a daughter, Susan M Straub and her husband, Bill of Valley View; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kroh of Lincoln; two sisters, Eleanor Bixler of Valley View and Lorraine Barder of Suedburg.

Services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating.

Burial was made in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Ravine.

Memorial contributions can be made to Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, P.O. Box 123, Valley View, PA 17983 to defer the funeral expenses.
