Charles L. "Buck" Stewart, age 89, of Valley View, formerly of Quakertown, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Schuylkill Medical Center- East, Pottsville.

He was born on Tuesday, August 24, 1920 in Philadelphia, a son of the late James Stewart and the late Gertrude (Coogan) Stewart.

He was a 1940 graduate of Springfield High School, Delaware County.

He served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific.

He was the owner and operator of Charles L Stewart Inc Fuel Oil and Gasoline; Job-Site Concrete; and Petroleum Products all of Quakertown. He also had been a sales rep for Sinclair Refining Company.

He was active in the Upper Bucks County Chamber of Commerce serving as past executive director; a member and past commander of American Legion Post 242, Quakertown; and a member of the Hegins Valley View Rotary.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View; where he served as a former member of the church council.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn J Stewart on April 4, 2009. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by a son, Charles L Stewart, Jr. and his wife, Renee of Alpharetta, GA; a nephew, Frank C Stewart and his wife, Jean of Quakertown; a cousin, Bette E Bowman and her husband, Fred of Valley View; and various nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating assisted by Rev. Curtis Zemencik.

A viewing was held from 10 am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial was made in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View.
