| | | Lester R Harner, age 80, of 2279 E Main Street, Sacramento, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on Friday, December 26, 1930, in Sacramento, a son of the late Gurney L and Edna J (Clark) Harner.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was a coal miner, a self-employed truck driver, and had retired from Sterman Masser Inc in 1996.
He was a member of the Tri-Valley Bible Church, Valley View.
He was also a member of VFW Post 2385, Gratz and the Western PA Teamsters Local 800.
Lester enjoyed auto racing, camping, and blue grass music.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean C Harner.
He is survived by his wife Blanche J (Martz) Harner, to whom he was married for 60 years.
He is also survived by a son Lonnie E Harner and his wife Gail of Hegins; a daughter Debra J Snyder and her husband Arthur of Halifax; three grandsons Nathan D "Nate" Snyder of Halifax, Ethan D Harner of Hegins, and Cody D Snyder of Halifax; a granddaughter Tanya J (Harner) Keiter of Cocolamus; three brothers Merlin J Harner of Pillow, Clair H Harner of Dalmatia, and Derl L Harner of Spring Glen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at the Tri-Valley Bible Church, Valley View, on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Dennis O'Brien officiating.
Visitation was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 26 at the church.
Burial with Military Honors was made in St. Andrew's United Methodist Cemetery, Sacramento.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
