Mary Jane Pierce, age 85, of Seymour, passed away at Scott Memorial Hospital, Scottsburg IN, on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 5:00 P.M. She was born on February 18, 1922, in Breathitt County, KY and was the daughter of Louis and Arizona Shouse Barrett. She was married to Tom Roberts who preceded her in death. She married Lloyd “Gary” Pierce, on April 4, 1992; he preceded her in death on January 7, 1998.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of Nazarene faith and enjoyed fishing, her garden and pets, but especially loved her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters; Maxine (Jerry) Durham, of North Vernon and Joyce (Dale) Keown, of Lexington, IN; six Grandchildren; Tina Durham, of North Vernon, Jerry L. Durham, of Columbus, Dan Klakamp, of Freetown, Mary (Scott) Carpenter, of Seymour, Robert Klakamp, of Freetown, and Michael Dale Keown, of Lexington, IN, seven Great-Grandchildren; Jessica (Cody) Vogel, of Columbus, Melinda (Brad) Case, of Columbus, Jeramy Durham, of North Vernon, Joshua Durham, of Cleo, MI, Ashley Proffit, Jared Proffit, Courtney Carpenter, all of Seymour, one sister; Fannie Martin, of Hamilton, OH and her extended family; Gary Brown, Marian Morrison, and Tim Christian.
Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers; Grover and William Barrett, six sisters; Jaylee Barrett, Addie Fletcher; Nannie Belle Deaton, Gertrude Turner, Anna Mae Anderson, Nazie Simpkins, four Children; Twins Christine and Paul Wayne Roberts, Darlene Roberts and Arthur Eugene Barrett, two Grandsons; John Herbert and Douglas Dwayne Klakamp,
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Steve Greene officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and on Saturday, from 12:00 P.M until time of the service. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, following the service.
