Agnes Sophie Minnie (Schroer) Oberman, age 87, of Seymour, passed away at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, IN, on Monday, December 24, 2007, at 5:20 p.m. She was born on August 16, 1920 at her parents’ home located 1½ miles west of Dudleytown. She was the daughter of Edward Henry and Lizettia Emelia (Thiele) Schroer. Agnes was married to Edwin Henry Casper Oberman at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour on October 26, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2001. She worked at Jay C Food Stores for 24 years, Tiemeier’s Jewelry Store for 6 years and retired in 1985 from Paris Style Clothing Store after 20 years.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved playing cards and bingo, decorating and cleaning her home, doing yard work, growing tomatoes and was an excellent pie maker.
She is survived by two daughters: Barbara (Donald) Bradley of Columbus and Brenda (Randy) Darlage of Brownstown; 3 granddaughters: Susan (Shawn) Raisor of Brownstown, Erin Loudermilk of Tucson, AZ and Nikki (Kevin) Householder of Decatur, IL; 1 grandson, Michael R. Bradley of Seymour; 4 great-grandchildren: Jared and Kirsten Raisor of Brownstown and Sydney and Taylor Loudermilk of Tucson; two sisters: Verna (Jim) Claycamp and Golda Thompson both of Seymour; brother-in-law Richard Oberman of Shelbyville; sister-in-law Norma Oberman of Crothersville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Laura (Edward) Phillips and Edna Heideman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 28, 2007, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg and Rev. Philip Bloch officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Burkholder Funeral Chapel and on Friday, from 9:00 A.M. until time of the service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery, following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, White Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.
