| | | Sophie D. Avsec, 94, a Brunswick resident of 48 years, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Willowood Care Center. She was born January 30, 1915 in Westland, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Katie (nee Pocofeck) Schmidt. She was a clerk for Sears Roebuck & Company, a homemaker, a member of St. Ambrose Parish, and a member of Grand Carniolian Slovenian Catholic Union. Mrs. Avsec is survived by her husband of 66 years Francis “Frank” Avsec and sister Donna (John) Kumer. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Schmidt. Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, August 24, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick with Father Bob Stec officiating. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.
