Steve John Oros, 78, of Mantua, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at his residence. Born December 2, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Stephen and Anna (Stano) Oros, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Steve was well known as a plumber in the area. He was Past Commander of the Mantua, American Legion Post #193, a member of Plumbers Local #55, a member of Mantua Center Christian Church, and he served for 10 years as Mantua Twp. Trustee. Steve enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and winemaking. He coached boys baseball and girls’ softball in Mantua and was an umpire and football referee.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Boone) Oros of Mantua; daughters, Joanne (Charles) Lott of Mogadore, Janice Oros of Akron and Julienne (David) Schmiel of Wisconsin; brothers, Andrew (Evalene) of Stow, Michael (Barbara) of Texas; John of Indiana and Albert (Kathleen) of Montana; sister, Frances (Bill) Sidoti of Cleveland; grandchildren, Kummel, Heather, Erin, Stephen, and Philip; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Chloe and Paul.
Calling hours are 5-8 PM on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 and 10-11 AM on Thursday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Oh. 44231. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Chad DeLaney officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
