John E. “Jack” Farris, 72, of Garrettsville, passed away at Akron City Hospital on Friday, October 16, 2009. He was born January 5, 1937 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio Glenn and Virgie (Ruddle) Farris. John was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office. He was very active with the Windham Bible Church. His religion was his “hobby.”
John is survived by his wife, Lavada (Fobes) Farris of Garrettsville, mother, Virgie of Cuyahoga Falls, sons, Roger and Timothy of Garrettsville; and John w. (Betty) of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Darla (Dave) Miller of Brunswick, Susan (Steve) Gregory of Painesville; Rachel (Greg) Singer of New Wilmington, Pa., and Rebecca (Geoffrey) Shayler of Jacksonville, N.C.; brother, Michael (Peg) of Medina; sister, Janet McBurney of Mogadore; and grandchildren, Kathleen, Michael, Heather, Cindy, Sandy, Joey, Jasmine, Jacob, Riley, Logan, Shelby and Katelynn. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, and a son, David.
A Celebration of John’s life will on Thursday at 11 AM at the Windham Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, or to the family. www.carlsonfuneralhomes.com
