| | | Helene M. Braden, 87, of Garrettsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She was born May 9, 1922 in Newton Falls, Ohio to the late Thomas and Mary Frances (Ribic) Benich. Helene was a homemaker. She baked pies for several restaurants in the Garrettsville area, was active with the PTA and Booster Club for Garrettsville schools and loved to work in her garden.
Helene is survived by her children, Colleen (John) Kovacs, Mickey(Pam) of Hiram, Cheryl Braden (Jerry Baldwin) of Dallas, TX, Rhonda (Bill) Sykes of Rockwell, TX; Kelvin (Barb) of Windham; Lorelei (Marty) Sterpka of Windham; Ryan of Garrettsville; daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Rex) McArthur; brothers, Thomas (Eleanor) Benich and Joseph (Lettie) Benich all of Newton Falls; sisters, Dorothy Reynolds and Ann Wortman both of Newton Falls; grandchildren, Ray, Scott, Todd, Karis, Curt, Tommy, Helene, Jean, Jonathan, Dawn, Monica, Megan, Jessica, Jake, Jennifer, Tyler and Travis; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Avery, Cody, Kobi, Tommy, Kim, Isaac and Braden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray; oldest son, Rex; son-in-law, John; brothers, George and Donald; and sisters, Mary and Margaret.
Calling hours are 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231 where funeral services will begin at 1:30 PM with Rev. James Lang officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Garrettsville. Donations may be made to James A.
