| | | Rita J. Gates (nee Cahill), 79 of Troutman, North Carolina, previously of Brunswick, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was born Aril 30, 1930 in Cleveland to Michael and Anna (nee Orzech) Cahill and was a homemaker. She loved her family, was an avid reader, and enjoyed puzzles. She was Aunt Rita to many. Mrs. Gates is survived by her daughter Donna (William) Tazelaar and sister Patricia (Carl) Gawelek. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Gates; granddaughter Carrie Ann; parents; sister Margaret Cahill; and brother Michael Cahill. Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, November 2, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick with Father Greg Olszewski officiating. Private interment will be in Eastlawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, North Carolina 28625.
