Frank Bassarab | | | | | Franz (Frank) Anton Bassarab, age 58, of West Haven, died January 5, 2009 in his home. Mr. Bassarab was born in Germany to the late Michael and Helene (Kucil) Bassarab and was a longtime area resident. He was a self-employed painter. An army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Survivors include his daughter Tracy Serrano of Waterbury; his brothers and sisters, Joseph Bassarab and his wife, Sharon of VA, Margareta Grabiec and her husband, Frank of Trumbull, Wilma Stevens and her husband Peter of Bridgeport, and Walter Bassarab and his wife, Linda of NY; three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Serrano, Matthew Edward Serrano and Aidan Anthony Machado; and many nieces and nephews. At the request of the family services were private. Arrangements by the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd.
