Mary Alexander

 
Mary E. (Leibig) Alexander, 84, of South Windsor, CT devoted wife of the late John E. Alexander, Jr. went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 6, 2009 at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford, CT. Mary was born on April 27, 1924 in Rexmont, PA the daughter of the late Charles and Viola Leibig. She had been a resident of the Hartford, CT area for the past 41 years. She attended school in Cornwall, P A graduating with honors in 1941 and received her RN degree in 1945 from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Lancaster, P A. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and loving and caring mother. She is survived by her son, John E. Alexander, III of South Windsor, CT, her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Gerard Treacy of Shelton, CT, her sister Louise Broughall of Cornwall, PA, her sister and brother-in-law Madlyn and John Shay of Quentin, P A, her sister-in-laws Elmira Leibig of Lebanon, PA, Phyllis Leibig of Myerstown, PA, and Ruth Zimmerman of Lancaster, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her sister Christine Matthews, her three brothers, Warren, Charles Jr., and Herman Leibig, and her brothers-in-Iaws Norman Matthews, Edward Broughall and John Zimmerman.
The funeral services and burial will be in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 7003 Main Street, Stratford, CT 066141397 or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001. The family wishes to express their gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the excellent care given to our beloved Mom by the 4th floor nursing staff at Lord Chamberlain over the last several years.
