| | | | Donal E. Braun, Sr., age 79, passed away Wednesday evening, January 10 at Bridgeport Hospital. Don, nicknamed “the doc” for his ability to always fix problems with charm, personality, and the ultimate sales skill, was also known lovingly as “Poppy”. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Jean, sons Don Jr., Jim and his wife Mary, and daughter Jeanine, and his granddaughters Lindsay and Courtney who were the light of his life. He is also survived by brothers Karl and David and his sister Ruth. He was an avid fisherman and boater, with many stories of big ones that got away, enjoying countless special times with his family and friends out on the water and at the beach at the family’s summer home on Cape Cod. Don was a veteran of both the Army and the Marine Corps, and served honorably in World War II earning the Silver and Bronze Stars as well as a Purple Heart. He was an active member of the Trumbull Exchange Club and the Veterans of Foreign War as well as Racebrook Country Club.
He worked for many years for General Motors Corp. and retired from Raybestos Manhattan as a District Sales Manager. He was known as one of the best in his field by his many friends and accounts. He loved to play poker, bowl, golf, and vacation, traveling with his family all over the Caribbean, U.S., and Europe, spending many happy times with them. He was cherished by all, and will be missed every day. A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa’s Church in Trumbull, CT. on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 9:00 am followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. There will be no calling hours; arrangements are under the direction of the Cyril Mullins Funeral Home in Trumbull, CT. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 372 Danbury Rd.
