| | | Paul Andrus Buckingham passed away at his home in Las Vegas on April 15, 2007. He was born on July 28, 1927 to Edwin Clayton and Maud Margaret Buckingham in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Las Vegas, his son Bruce Buckingham and grandsons Brett and Matthew Buckingham of Atascadero, California. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Buckingham of Trumbull, Connecticut. Paul is a graduate of Bassick High School and received a degree from M.I.T. in chemical engineering. He then earned a master's degree from M.I.T. He worked for Merck & Company after graduation, then entered the U.S. Air Force. After four years in the Air Force, Paul began a career as a chemical process engineer for Fluor Corporation, where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He and his wife Barbara retired to Las Vegas where they enjoyed golf, playing bridge and bowling.
Paul enjoyed music and playing the piano, especially ragtime music. Paul enjoyed sailing and he and Barbara bought a 37 ft. sailboat which they christened "Ragtime". They sailed the waters off southern California many years.
Graveside services for Paul Buckingham will be Tuesday, April 24 at 2:00p.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Arrangements by the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd.
