Andrew Stephen Kolesar, age 94, a long time Trumbull, CT resident passed away peacefully, October 17, 2009 at the home he shared with his son, Edward Koleszar and fiancé Tina Sakowicz. Andrew's sons and family were by his side.In 1914, Andrew's parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Koleszar, arrived from Hungary through Ellis Island, with their daughter Ethel Lillian. Stephen and Elizabeth settled in Bridgeport Connecticut and added to their family two son's; Andrew Stephen and William Louis. An Army Veteran, Andrew was a Pearl Harbor Survivor, and active member of the American Legion. The statue and plaque on the lawn of the Trumbull Town Hall is in recognition of his dedication and devotion to our country. His participation in the annual Trumbull Memorial Day parade brought him great pride and emotion, to remember those he served with as well as those that continue to serve his great country.Andrew was a retired office and credit manager from Producto Machine Corporation, and former president of the Bridgeport Chapter of the National Credit Managers Association. He and his wife Julia Grace Kolesar were both active members of the St. Theresa Parish in Trumbull and the St. Stephen's Guild.Andrew's zest for life, kind and compassionate manner, generous heart and respected character has been shared by many. His pride in his heritage and country has never faltered. Always kind, always courteous, a grand presence accompanied by an appreciative gratitude, so many are fortunate to have had him as a part of their lives.Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Julia Grace Kelemen Koleszar of Trumbull. Three sons, Andrew S. Koleszar, Jr. and wife Diana Grazia of Winsted, CT; Edward S. Koleszar and fiancé Tina Sakowicz of Stratford, CT; CMSGT (Ret.) Richard J. Koleszar and wife Edith, of Greencastle, PA; Daughter Mary Ellen Koleszar of Rochester, NY; Grandson Christopher P. Secor of Rochester, NY; Goddaughter and Granddaughter Alison M. Koleszar of Corvallis, OR; Grandson James S. Koleszar of Stratford, CT; Granddaughter Lindsay A. Secor of Rochester, NY; Granddaughter Julia E. Koleszar Reid and her husband, Marine Corporal Ronald Reid, of Ft. Belvoir, VA, and their soon to arrive daughter Zoey Elizabeth; Grandson Jesse D. Koleszar and his wife Nicole of Thomaston, CT.
Andrew is also survived by brother-in-law and long time friend, Gus (Geyza) Fazekas of Fairfield, CT; Brother-in-law Emery Kelemen and his wife Theresa of Stratford, CT; Brother-in-law Joseph Kelemen and his wife Carrie of Freidens, PA; numerous special nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Vitas of Fairfield, CT; St. Vincent's Medical Center, CHF Clinic and Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic for their care and support to Andy and his family. Stop and Shop Trumbull, pharmacy and store staff for always greeting him with a pleasant hello. Westview Mall, Trumbull, as Andy did his morning walks, would welcome him. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road and at 11:00 a.m. St. Theresa Church, Main St. Trumbull. Interment will be at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield with full military honors. Friends may call on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home.
