Charles Henry Dombkowski, age 85, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, died October 25, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Dombkowski was born February 10, 1924 to Charles and Sophie ( Kozak) Dombkowski. A WWI Navy veteran, he retired from McKesson Pharmaceutical. He was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Josephine (Stockmal) Dombkowski. his brothers, Henry Dombkowski, and Teddy Dombkowski, his sisters, Clara Turko, and Florence Adamson. Survivors include his sister, Betty Hilker of Shelton; nephews, Robert (Maryalice) Hilker, Charles (Maryanne) Hilker, Walt Adamson, John (Pat) Turko, Alan Adamson, and George Turko; nieces Joyce Madura (Airton Andrade) and Carol (Jim) Halpin and many great nieces and nephews. Charles spent the last 21/2 years as a resident at Bridgeport Manor. Prior to this he lived in Success Village. He enjoyed John Wayne movies, playing cards and spending time with his two favorite great-nieces Gabrielle and Emily Hilker. Friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cyril F Mullins Funeral Home 1640 Boston Ave (corner of Ridgefield) Ave. and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church Boston Ave. Bpt., Interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Bpt. Manor and Bpt. Hospital (10th) Floor) for their care and concern.
