I wanted to tell you about the last time I spoke with Bobby. It was about a year and a half ago and I was teasing him and trying to encourage him to come back and do children's theatre. He smiled that shy and genuine smile of his and answered politely that he'd think about it. Of course, I knew by then that his destiny was sport, but I also could see in his eyes an appreciation for all that life could offer, including the arts. He had a lovely voice and a gentle way with people. You raised an extraordinary young man, who obviously touched so many people's lives. There are no words to really express what his loss means, but we wanted you to know that our prayers are with you. Please know that Bobby will never be forgotten. I could tell he was a man who loved everything in life and now he is uo in heaven looking down on the world giving his comfort to his family and friends. May God be with everyone who knew him.

I never knew your son, but my parents, Chuck and Vicki Hanshaw know of you all, and I wanted to send my sincere gratitude for your loss. I hear he was a remarkable young man, and that he not only blessed his family with his smile and love, but all his friends and teachers that knew him. I hope and pray you find comfort from the Lord in your time of loss. Always, Martha
From: Martha Hanshaw Pumphrey    06/18/2007 08:38 AM

My thoughts and prayers have been with all the families involved in this tragic accident since I first learned of the news. I think often of how strong your family and the others must be to continue through such a difficult time. Be strong for each other and know that these two boys will never be forgotten. I pray that your family and the Withers family find strength in the Lord and understand that your sons have succeeded in their journeys in life so well what takes the rest of us much longer to accomplish. God judges character and your children were chosen because they did what they were sent here to do. Be proud of that and understand the joy they must be feeling now with Our Saviour. May God be with you and know that our community is also with you.

Melanie, I am so very sorry for your tremendous loss....I will always remember Bobby swing dancing and singing and loving every minute of it. I have some beautiful pictures of Bobby and that particular show and when I get back in town I would like to bring them to you. Please know that you are in our prayers and have been every day and night since the accident. I have said so many times to many people that "if I knew I had to go to battle and had to assemble an army of women, Melanie Gleason would be the one I would want at my right side".....you are an amazing, strong, loving soul and I know God has you and all your family in his Hands. Much love and prayer, Mary
