CUYAHOGA FALLS – Janet A. Allen, Delevan, NY, formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, of Delevan Ave. where she made her home the past 5 years, died Saturday Nov. 3, 2007 at her home following a short illness. Born Nov. 21, 1936 in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of Howard and Gertrude Jordan Moore. On Dec. 6, 1958 in Cuyahoga Falls, she married Brooks Allen Jr.
Ms. Allen graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and was employed by the Lawson Milk Co. and the City of Cuyahoga Falls doing office work for several years before becoming a secretary in the Cuyahoga Falls School system retiring in 1997, where her great-grandfather McConnell Moore was clerk of the Cuyahoga Falls High Schools Board of Education in 1894.
Ms. Allen was a fourth generation Fallsite who loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking along with cookbooks and cooking shows. She was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are 2 daughters Cathy Croft of Dublin, OH and Diane (Stan) Fox, Jr. of Franklinville,, NY; 3 grandchildren, Alex Croft and Jason and Bridget Fox; a sister Linda (Robert) Zink of Sebring, OH and 2 nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin Allen in 1979.
Friends may gather with the family on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls where her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 9 at 11 am, Rev. Dr. John Schluep, pastor of First Congregational Church of Tallmadge officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Firefighters and Community Society P.O. Box 189 Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44222.
