CUYAHOGA FALLS -Albert G. Beacon, 88, passed away July 16, 2005. Mr. Beacon was born in Pittsburgh, PA and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1959, moving here from Pittsburgh. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls where had sang in the choir and belonged to United Methodist Men, was a veteran of WW2 having served with the U. S. Army and had worked in retail sales in Men's clothing. He had been an All American swimmer at the University of Pittsburgh, was an Eastern Collegiate Champion, had won several Gold Medals in the Lithuanian Olympics in 1938 and also was a medallist in the Senior National Olympics in St. Louis. He had sung in many musical groups and choirs.
He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis; daughters, Patricia (Edward) Gdula of Madison, Conn, Susan (Paul) Albright of Brecksville and Nancy Beacon of Redding, CA, grandchildren, Daniel and Devin Gdula, Christopher and Meredith Albright and Jonathan and Peter Farsai.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 (Time to be announced later). Interment Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. The Family suggests memorials me made to the First United Methodist Church Gifts and Memorials Fund or the American Cancer Society 1900 W. Market St. Akron, OH 44313-6927.
