Richard H. “Dick” Barrett, 84, died September 17, 2006. Dick was born in Goodyear Heights, was raised in Hudson and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1956. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in 1985 as area manager at the Tech Center with 44 years service and was a Veteran of WW2 having served with the U. S. Navy as a machine gun instructor. He was a member of Ralph Huff Post 1062 VFW where he had served as Trustee and also a member of American Legion Charles Faust Post 281, BPOE 1923 and the Cuyahoga Falls Eagles.

Dick was a man who made friends easily and often throughout is life. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ann; parents, Paul D. and Elizabeth Barrett and brother, Lawrence Barrett and is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Martha Barrett of Conway, AR and Mike and Ann Barrett of Buffalo Grove, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jim Tangenberg of Uniontown and grandchildren, Catie and Joe Barrett, Scott (Linda) Tangenberg and Carrie Tangenberg (Jason Vestfals); great-granddaughter, Kara Tangenberg; dear friend, Shirley Hoffman and many nieces, nephews and cousins including nephew, Larry (Barrett) Krupa of Algonquin, IL.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Father Edwin Leonard officiating and a military service will be conducted by VFW Ralph Huff Post 1062. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to service. Private inurnment will take place in Markillie Cemetery in Hudson. The family requests, in lieu of other remembrances memorials be made to the American Lung Assoc. 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd. #260 Independence, OH 44131-2340.
