Etta H. Stanley-Hemeon, age 96, of Johnstown, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville, following a long illness.
She was born May 19, 1912 in the town of Caroga daughter of the late Stephen Hohler and Rina Moshier.
Etta was a member of the North Bush United Methodist Church, also a member of the Wesley-Philathea Class at the former First United Methodist Church Johnstown, a member of Eastern Star St. Monica Chapter # 486, a member of the Shirley Luck Senior Center in Johnstown.
She was employed at General Telephone Co. for 22 years and prior to that she was employed at Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for 3 years.
Mrs. Hemeon was an airplane observer during WWII, and in the early 70’s was a volunteer at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter Louise Stock of Caroga Lake; a daughter-in-law Barbara La Rowe; two sister’s Marion M. Gage of Johnstown and Ella Plantz of Gloversville; seven grandchildren William D. Stock and his wife Jennifer, Debra Subik and husband Steven, Judy Subik and husband Andrew, Robert F. Stock and his wife Sharon, Timothy Stock and wife Stacia, Linda Munio and husband Clifford, and Gary La Rowe; Seventeen great grandchildren, Two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son Theodore Steven La Rowe, five sisters Louise Burr, Margaret Martish, Ethel Mussey, Viola Kovalovich, and Sara Stearns; two brothers Gilbert Mussey, and Nelson Mussey.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Friends and family may call on Friday prior to the services from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, and final interment will be in North Bush Cemetery.
