| Norma I. Van Aernam, age 82, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, after a long illness.
She was born May 1, 1926 in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Kent Clark and Marguerite Phillips Clark. Norma was employed at the former Leon Swears Glove Co., General Electric and was last employed for over 20 years as a bus driver for the Johnstown School District until her retirement. She was a former member of the Johnstown Moose. On April 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Harry G. Van Aernam and he passed away on December 8, 1976. Survivors include one son Timothy Van Aernam and his wife Lisa of Johnstown; two sisters Arlene Taylor and her husband George of California, Betty Turnbell of Schenectady; four grandchildren Gordon (Tammy) Van Aernam Jr., Beth (Tom) Fraker, Alexandra Van Aernam, Brady Van Aernam; one great granddaughter Caitlyn Van Aernam; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sons Gordon 1991, Toby 1977 and Robert 1994, and two brothers Robert Clark and Harlow Clark. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. Friends and family may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to Wells House Activity Fund.
