| John G. Webb, age 90, of Johnstown, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Pineview Commons, after being stricken.
He was born January 28, 1918 in Johnstown, a son of the late George Webb and Maude Crowter Webb. Mr. Webb served his Country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army from February 25, 1941 until his honorable discharge on March 1, 1946. John was employed as a foreman at Anderson Instrument Co. Inc. of Glen until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife Frances Kelley Webb in 1983. Survivors include his step-daughter Patricia Schelmbauer and her husband John of Saratoga Springs; a step-son Michael Schmutz and his wife Bev of Ballston Spa; one sister Katherine Schmutz of Johnstown; grandchildren John Schelmbauer Jr. of Tampa, and Lisa Hapman of New Jersey; several great grandchildren; nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. Friends and family may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be in North Bush Cemetery, Town of Caroga. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
