Robert Vennett, age 65, a resident of Johnstown, passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 surrounded by his children and his Lexington family.
Mr. Vennett was born on June 9, 1943 in Schenectady, New York. He was the son of the late Peter Vennett Sr. and Anna May Cramer Vennett. Mr. Vennett attended Amsterdam City Schools. He worked for a number of businesses in the area. His involvement with Lexington Center began in 1998, and during the past 10 years Mr. Vennett made many friends and touched many lives with his keen wit, wonderful sense of humor and practical jokes. He was an avid card player who played a wicked game of Gin Rummy by “Robert’s rules”. He was an ardent Elvis Presley fan, and he enjoyed socializing with family and friends. His two children, Lisa and Robert, were much loved, and his proudest accomplishment.
Mr. Vennett is survived by his son Robert of Amsterdam; daughter Lisa and her husband William Wilmont and grandson William all of Tribes Hill; brother Phillip and his wife Debbie of Schenectady; sisters Patricia and husband William Hayes of Broadalbin, Martha Mickles of Madison Tennessee, Sophie and husband Michael Hrycenko of Taunton, Massachusetts, and Clara Cionek of Johnstown; several nieces, nephews.
Mr. Vennett was predeceased by his brothers Martin Cramer and Peter Vennett.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams will officiate.
Friends and family may call on Friday one hour prior tot the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady.
