Mary P. Simons, age 95, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday December 23, 2008 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, after long illness. She was born July 10, 1913 in Ireland, to the late George Harding and Julia Keane Harding. Mary was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish of Johnstown. She was employed at the former Johnstown Hospital until her retirement in 1982. Mary loved to spend time tending to her gardens. On June 16, 1938 she was united in marriage to John Louis Simons and he passed away in 1960. Survivors include two nephews John Simons and his wife Sue of Duansburg, Laird Simons of Syracuse; Two nieces Linda Kelly of Johnstown and Sheila Sheehan of CoCork, Ireland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Kenneth Swain will be the celebrant. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice or to the Holy Trinity Parish. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A. G. Cole Funeral Home inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
