Frank S. Rhodes, age 84, of Caroga Lake, passed away on Friday February 20, 2009 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a brief illness.
He was born December 9, 1924 in Gloversville, a son of the late Alonzo Rhodes and Minnie Maidment Rhodes.
He was Graduate of Gloversville High School.
Mr. Rhodes attended the North Bush Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Caroga lake Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Johnstown VFW, and Gloversville Senior Center.
His hobbies included hunting, bowling, and golf.
Frank was employed with the General Electric Company until his retirement.
On August 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to Shirley M. Sweet Rhodes and she passed away on February 15, 2005.
Survivors include four sons Daniel Rhodes and his wife Teresa of Gloversville, Duane Rhodes and his wife Susan of Gloversville, Craig Rhodes of New Mexico, and Darrell Rhodes and his wife Irene of Hagaman; two daughters Sharon Diefendorf and her husband Richard of Gloversville, Stephanie Pitonza and her husband Greg of Ft. Plain; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother Elwin Rhodes, and two sisters Eleanor and Hazel.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Frank’s memory to the North Bush Methodist Church.
