Donald L. Bellen, age 90, of Mayfield, passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at home, after being stricken. He was born February 23, 1919 in Gloversville, a son to the late Elmer Bellen and Ella Sparr Bellen. Mr. Bellen was employed as a glove cutter for many years at Alvord Glove Shop and he retired from Vertucci Gloves. Donald was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife Anja Mykkanen Bellen whom he married on October 12, 1941; three grandchildren Donald L. Bellen of Mayfield, Eleanor Zimmerman of Mayfield, and Alyson Wood of Bedford, Texas; seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son Donald Bellen in 1967. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams will preside. Friends and family may call on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
