| Thomas T. Hammond, age 73, a resident of Fonda, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after a long illness. He was born March 12, 1936 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Tracy Hammond and Katherine Hanson Hammond. Mr. Hammond attended Gloversville Schools, and was employed at Peter’s Oil Company, Montgomery County A.R.C. and a House Parent for Lexington. Tom was a former member of the Johnstown Loyal Order of Moose. Mr. Hammond loved all his pets and will be sadly missed
Survivors include his wife Ann Marie Miller Hammond whom he married on October 31, 1970; one daughter Christina Mauro of Gloversville; three brothers Jack Hammond of Texas, Jim Hammond of Hagaman, and Bob Hammond of Fonda; two grandchildren Ashley Mauro, and Thomas Mauro; one great granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. from the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 North Melcher Street, Johnstown. The Rev Karen Patterson will preside. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the Leukemia Society or to the Brennan Humane Society.
