Carl D. Jackson Sr., age 63, a resident of Palatine, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, following a long illness. He had been a resident of the Palatine Nursing Home for the past 10 years. He was born December 17, 1945 in Gloversville, a son of the late Carl Jackson and Lucille Sleezer Jackson. Mr. Jackson was last employed at the former Sonoco Paper Mill in Amsterdam. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. During the past 10 years at the nursing home Carl never lost his sense of humor or his zest for life. Survivors include his seven children Melinda, Tammy, Wyndham, Rodney, Paul, Carl Jr. and Jeremy; three sisters Ellen Doxstater of Gloversville, Patricia McClain of Mayfield, and Margaret Ashline of Johnstown; one aunt Margaret Manikewitz; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a Brother Billy, his grandmother Emma Sleezer, and the mother of his children Paula.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams will preside.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
