Phillip M. Savage Sr., age 65, of Ephratah, passed away on, Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady with his family at his side, following a long illness. He was born on September 2, 1944 in Little Falls. Mr. Savage graduated from Johnstown high school in 1962. He was employed at General Electric in Schenectady, and most recently he was employed as a professional painter working for Fudger Decorators, and T.C. Neri. He was a member of the Johnstown Church of Christ. Phillip had a wonderful sense of humor, he loved to play baseball with family and friends, loved the Yankees, the casino, and hickory nut tree in the meadow, and like all the Savage’s he loved to play chess and pinochle. Survivors include Four sons Phillip M. Savage Jr. of Johnstown, Michael A. Hill of Hope, Austin Bailey of Lassellsville, and Shane Bailey of Gloversville; two daughters Alicia Bailey and Amanda Bailey both of Gloversville; four brothers Paul and his wife Sandy Savage of Ft. Plain, Delbert and his wife Sally Savage of Gloversville, Allen and his wife Diane Savage of Johnstown, and Ralph and his wife Sue Savage of Johnstown; four sisters Thelma Chamberlain of Johnstown, Linda Van Duesen of Ft. Plain, Shirley L.C. Savage of Gloversville, and Sheila L.C. Savage of Ft. Plain; his mother Thelma Russell Savage Lusk of Ephratah; 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Allen H. Savage and his brother David L. Savage.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Don English will preside.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday prior to the service from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
