| | | Mason City- Jerry Dean Whitney Sr., 69, of 1634 North Carolina Ave., Mason City, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, (September 8, 2009) at Hogan-Bremer- Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street Northeast, Mason City, with Pastor Paul Martin, officiating. Cremation will take place after the service.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services, Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to Erika in memory of Jerry.
Jerry was born September 27, 1939, in Mason City, the son of Earl and Edith Whitney. He graduated from Mason City High School, then worked in construction until moving to California. Jerry moved back to Iowa and was in a car accident that left him disabled in 1967.
Jerry married Erika (Murnigkeit) in September of 1968. Between the two of them, they had seven children. Jerry loved to read before he lost his eyesight, and he also enjoyed watching T.V., especially the History Channel and the Green Network. He loved his family and his Chihuahua, Angel.
He is survived by his wife Erika, Mason City, his children Monica (David) Teeter, Mason City, Mike (Sheryl) Trenary, Mason City, Jamey (Lisa) Whitney, Kansas, Steve (Lori) Whitney, Mason City, Tim (Marcie) Whitney, Rochester, MN, Wendy (Jeff) Ewing, Mason City, and Jerry Whitney Jr., Manly,13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several brothers and sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter Anna Marie Ewing.
