Nora Springs-Lillian Margaret Grandy, 94, of 907 West Congress Street, Nora Springs, died September 7, 2009, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Christian Church, 102 North Hawkeye Avenue, Nora Springs, with Pastor Glen Bandell officiating. Burial will be at the Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Lillian.

Lillian was born on September 7, 1915, in Beanfate, Canada, the daughter of Peter and Minnie (LaFrenz) Jansen. She lived in Canada until the age of 3, when she and her family moved to Iowa, and farmed near Rudd and Rockford. In April of 1943, Lillian married Virgil Merle Grandy in Northwood, Iowa, to this union 2 children were born.
Lillian was a housewife, taking care of her children and home. In her later years she was a cook for the I.O.O.F. Home and the Nora Springs Nursing Home.

In her spare time Lillian loved playing cards, Scrabble, and traveling with Virgil. She also liked to garden and bake, especially apple dumplings. Lillian loved having her grandchildren around, and when they stayed overnight with her, she would make them pancakes with homemade syrup! She also volunteered at the Nora Springs school, and was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Christian Church.

She is survived by her children Jerrie (William) Koppen, Nora Springs, and Glenn (Patricia) Grandy, Brighton, CO, her grandchildren, Randy (Sandy) Koppen, Willmar, MN, Tammy (Wayne) Prazak, Nora Springs, Julie (Chad) McKee, Hutchinson, MN, Jill (Bret) Lauterbach, Gladbrook, Amber (Brandon) Paugh, Brighton, CO, Trevor Grandy, Thornton, CO and Regina Grandy, Denver, CO, her great grandchildren Barry and Abby Koppen, Willmar, MN, Madeline and Carsten McKee, Hutchinson, MN, Kyle Koppen, Gladbrook, Loghan Lauterbach, Gladbrook, and Cooper Paugh, Brighton, CO, along with many nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, John Jansen and Albert Jansen, 1 sister Viola Rasmussen and a grandson Marc Grandy.
