| | | Mason City-Maxine M. Holt 83, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Friday September 25, 2009, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street N.E. Mason City, with Reverend Michael Schueller officiating. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a scriptural wake at 7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel 126 3rd Street N.E. Mason City.
Memorials may be directed to the Maxine M. Holt Memorial.
Maxine Mary Mitchell was born March 7, 1926, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the daughter of John Joseph and Stella Cecilia (Crabb) Mitchell. She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She grew up in Waseca, Minnesota and was confirmed at Sacred Heart Church. When she was fifteen her family moved to Mason City where she graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. Maxine was united in marriage on June 3, 1944, to Richard Holt; to this union four children were born.
Maxine helped with Holt and Sons Sanitation business. She worked at the VFW for 18 years, Lowe Cleaning Service for 10 years and Mutual Federal Building for 12 years; retiring in 1993. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering and helping her elderly neighbors. Maxine enjoyed dancing, crocheting, crafts and loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Maxine in survived by her children, Gary (Cathy) Holt, Ronald (Theresa) Holt, and Joella (Richard) Winters, all of Mason City; grandchildren Penny and Troy Holt, Charles City, Doug and Cary Holt, Mason City, Mark (Christine) Holt, Ben (Melissa) Holt, all of Mason City, Angella Winters, Watertown, SD, Jessica Winters, Mason City, Brad (Karen) Eskildsen, Marietta, CA, step grandchild Nicole Dault, Mason City, niece Rita Hewitt, Mason City, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter Karen Eskildsen and her husband Steve, siblings John, Lowell, Kenny and Harold Mitchell, Eve Simmons and Margurite Gardenier, one grandson Brenton Eskildsen and special friend Harvey Kunzman Sr.
