Mason City- Ellen R. Weiss, 78, of 2045 Hunters Ridge Drive, died peacefully Thursday (September 24, 2009) at home surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday (September 29, 2009) at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams , Mason City, with Rev. Michael Schueller, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, where a scriptural wake service will be held at 7P.M. Monday evening.

Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church.

Ellen Rose Weiss was born November 27, 1930 at Mason City, a daughter of Fred and Irene (Sears) Stockberger. She was united in marriage to Frank J. Weiss on September 20, 1958 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City.

Ellen graduated from Mason City High School in 1949. During high school and for a short time after, she worked at the Park Clinic as a record keeper. She also worked at the First National Bank, Mason City as a teller and later, worked at Equitable Life Insurance Company, Des Moines. For many years she was a benefits specialist at Principal Financial Group, Mason City, retiring in 1996.

She enjoyed bowling, dancing at the Surf, and taking bus tours across the United States.

Ellen’s life was centered on her family; she especially loved her grandchildren and great granddaughter.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and T.O.P.S., where she treasured her many friendships.

Survivors include, her husband, Frank Weiss, Mason City; her children, Jeanne (Tim) Blutt, Des Moines, Donald (Sally) Weiss, Cambridge, MA, Janet (Ken) Greene, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Tara Blutt, Peter Blutt, Lindsay Greene, Andrea Greene, Luke Weiss, Jonathan Weiss; great-granddaughter, Hayden May; sisters, Winifred (Jim) Rasmussen, Mason City, Viola Fisk, Mason City; brother, George (Mary Lou) Stockberger, Mason City; sisters and brothers in-law, Vera Stockberger, Mason City, Marie Weiss, Mason City, Catherine Faulken, Mason City, Bill (Ethel) Weiss, Mason City, John Weiss, Bowie, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers in infancy, Donald and Richard Stockberger, brother, Lloyd Stockberger, and sister Betty Clarke.
