| | | Melvin Lars Myklestad, 91, of 740 Rose Ave. Garner, Iowa died Wednesday Oct. 7, 2009 at the Hospice Care Inc., Madison, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday Oct. 10, 2009 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Family suggests memorials to Hospice Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin.
Melvin was born rural Emmons, Minnesota the son of Lars and Velma (McDowell) Myslestad. He attended Forest City Schools.
He farmed with his father until he married Iva Viola Johnson Dec. 21, 1942. They lived on a farm south of Ventura and later moved into Ventura where he worked for the Ventura Elevator. After retiring from the elevator they moved to their present home in Garner.
He is survived by his son Ronald Myklestad and his wife Jessica, Prescott, Arizona and a daughter Janice Snater and her husband Ron, Madison, Wisconsin; two grandchildren Chad Snater, Gainesville, Florida and Joshua Snater, Madison, Wisconsin and one sister Gladys Baker, Clear Lake, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister Beulah Rothamel and a brother Allen Myklestad.
