Manly- Gertrude “Gertie” M. LaMar, 88, of Manly, Iowa died Wednesday October 28, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa, after a short illness.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 North Broadway, Manly, with Reverend David G. Kucera and Reverend Kenneth B. Gehling concelebrating. Inurnment will take place at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring Street, Manly, with a rosary taking place at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Gertrude.

Gertrude was born January 24, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Theresa (Thome) Hemann on the family farm near Stacyville, Iowa. Gertrude was working in Charles City as a nanny when she met and married Clifford John Hugeback; to this union three children were born. Cliff passed away in August of 1953.

The following year she met Frank Lamar Jr. They were wed August 6, 1955. They moved to Manly where they owned a tavern. After selling the tavern Gertie then went to work at Winnebago. She then managed and cooked at the Pioneer Country Club before retiring.

Gertie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; playing cards, family reunions and life in general. She also volunteered for her church guild and delivered Meals-On-Wheels.

She is survived by her husband Frank LaMar, three children; Glenda Hugeback Pecinovsky, Cresco, Gary (Bonnie) Hugeback, Coon Rapids, MN, and Richard (Alyce) Hugeback, Hampton, grandchildren Eva Pecinovsky, Kristen (Jon) Nimsger, Justin (Angie) Hugeback, great grandchildren Sophia and Ethan Nimsger and Henery Hugeback and five half brothers and sisters.

Gertie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cliff Hugeback and several half brothers and sisters.
