| | | Virginia L. Dawson, 90, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. She was born April 5, 1919 in Gibson County, Indiana and graduated from Mt. Olympus High School and Vincennes University School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and formerly worked at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton and Wirth Hospital in Oakland City and also was a former county health nurse. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Princeton and the United Presbyterian Women’s Association.
Virginia is survived by her three children, Michael Dawson of Princeton, Gary A. (Lisa) Dawson of Mt. Olympus and Patricia (Terry) Hedges of Princeton; 10 grandchildren, Scott (Kristen) Dawson, Sherri (Darrin) Greubel, Natalie (Ryan) Carey, Carrie (Joey) Richeson, Julie (Chris) Ambrose, Angie Dawson (Billy Wright), Chad Dawson, Lindsey Dawson, Kelli (Billy) Mayer and Kara (Randy) Sparks; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; nephews, Jeffrey and Kim Myrick; great nephew and great niece, Brian and Lori; a very special lifelong friend, Jean Davis.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Myrick; her mother, Nora Weiss; a stillborn son, David Alan Dawson; a stillborn grandson, Brian Trent Hedges; a grandson, Todd Dawson; a brother, William "Bud" Myrick; and the father of her children, Earl Wilson "Bill" Dawson in July of 2009.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Barry Wynveen officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Atkinson Chapel Cemetery near Oatsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Women's Association. Envelopes will be available at Colvin Funeral Home.
