Violet M. Hurt, 93 of Princeton, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the VNA Charlier Hospice in Evansville. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton. She was a member of the American Legion #25 Auxiliary and the VFW #1147 Auxiliary.

She was born May 1, 1916 in Princeton to Lyman & Lula (Turpin) Padgett, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Ernest Martin in 1948 and her 2nd husband, Arom W. Hurt in 1966; sons, James D. Martin, Allen Joe Martin and an infant son; 1 brother and 3 half brothers; 1 sister.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Barbara Bruce of Mt. Vernon, IL; son, John R. Hurt of Mt. Carmel, IL; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her Bichon Frise companion, Lacy; 3 nephews (that were close to her); and a very good friend, Babe McClure.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday October 1, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Pastor John Stepp officiating. Burial will be at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at Colvin Funeral Home.
