| | | Janette C. Nixon, 72, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She was born September 30, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa and had resided in the Winslow area since 1955. She retired from Fifth Third Bank in Evansville and had formerly worked at First Bank and Trust in Oakland City. She was a member of the Muren Church of God and was formerly the church treasurer. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Winslow.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert M. Nixon of Winslow; 3 children, Cindy Lowery of West Liberty, Iowa, Les R. (Julie) Nixon of Winslow and Christine (Tim) Winkler of Philpot, Kentucky;
5 grandchildren, Jeremy (Liz) Johnson, Jesse (Nicole) Nixon, Josh (Tonya) Barnett, Jason (Kristi) Winkler and Lindsey Nixon; 5 great grandchildren; a sister JoAnne Fredlund of Temple, Texas and a brother, David Willenborg of Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (CDT) Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Pastor Clint Woolsey officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. (CDT) Friday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Blackfoot Cemetery in Pike County, near Coe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PAWS Animal Shelter of Pike County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
