Afterloss-A Recovery Companion for Those Who Are Grieving (by Barbara LesStrang) - This book is published by Thomas Nelson Co., the publishers of most Bibles sold worldwide, as well as many other famous titles. Nelson calls this 230 page book, "an unflinching and compassionate look at grief, which more than anything we have seen or read, specifically helps readers come to terms with their loss." Barbara LesStrang is the nationally acclaimed founder of Afterloss recovery ministry. It is divided into three separate books, one of which details the stories of 22 others who have also suffered and survived a loss, told in their own words.
Thoughts for the Holidays: Finding Permission to Grieve (by Doug Manning) - The Holidays are difficult for anyone on the grief journey. The candles are lit, the houses are decorated, and the grieving person struggles to find any joy in the celebrations. Doug gives the reader permission to find their own way to cope, to remember, and to survive the hurdles that the holiday season can present.
Thoughts for the Lonely Nights: A Conversation About Grief (by Doug Manning) - For a person in grief, the night rarely brings rest and relief. Often that is when all the questions, hurts and tears find a way to come out. Doug calls that being lonely to the bone. In this book, Doug brings his best discussions about loss and the grief journey and how to find help and comfort along the way. He calls it a conversation about grief. Blank pages follow each chapter for the reader to respond, reflect and journal. Wonderful for the person who may be sitting up nights looking for answers.
Living When a Loved One Has Died (by Earl Grollman) - With simple compassion, Earl Grollman leads those who are grieving through emotional turmoil to a new hopeful life. Gently, straightforwardly, he helps the grieving confront the death of a loved one and then go on living.
Explaining Death to Children (by Earl Grollman) - This outstanding book looks at our own perceptions of death in order to better understand a child's perceptions and how to address them. Written by well known experts in this field, this book has been termed the finest ever written on the subject.
