Earl W. Marlin, 83 of Keokuk, Iowa, died at 11:10 AM, Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Marlin was born February 18, 1926, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Mildred Humes Marlin. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a Corporal on the Pacific Front. He married Mary Alice Balwin.
He was employed by Union Electric as a lineman for 14 years. He then was employed by the city of Keokuk as a firefighter, from 1961 until retiring as captain in 1983. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and providing for our feathered friends with birdfeeders and seed. He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Jane Swick and her husband, Tom, of West Point, Illinois and Annie Ross and her husband, Mike, of Keokuk; three sons, Jeff Marlin and his wife, Dawn, Rick Marlin and his wife, Sarah, and Fritz Marlin and his wife, Shawn, all of Keokuk; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Marlin of Okeechobee, Florida; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Marlin of Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Bill and Tim Marlin.
Funeral services were Friday, July 24, 2009, at DeJong’s Funeral Home with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial followed with full Military Rites at Keokuk National Cemetery.
Memorials may be to Arms of Angels or Lee County Hospice and left at the funeral Home.
